Riot police on Wednesday again had to use tear gas to disperse thousands of anti-government protesters in the capital city of Venezuela.

State police were trying to blockade and stop protesters from forming a massive procession in the municipality of Libertador.

Both anti-government and pro-government protesters have been dueling along Caracas streets and squares to show their opposition and support for the elected president.

Nicolas Maduro was sworn in as Venezuelan president to succeed the late Hugo Chavez in March 2013.
