France is bracing for yet another Yellow Vest demonstration on Saturday as the anti-government movement seems to be gathering momentum.

Police officials say they expect the ninth week of the protests to be bigger and more violent than the week before. The level of participation on Saturday is believed to set the tone for next week’s national debate on protesters’ demands. President Emmanuel Macron hopes the debate could help defuse the crisis. But a recent poll has found seventy seven percent of the French distrust the process. Yellow Vest protests began in mid-November 20-18 in response to a planned fuel price hike. It has since grown into a bigger movement against Macron’s policies that protesters say favor the rich over the poor.
