According to Digital Trends, new data form the Cassini spacecraft says that Saturn’s rings are younger than previously believed. Scientists believe that the rings are certainly less than 100 million years old and could be as young as 10 million years old. Data was gathered by looking at the strength of the gravitational pull of the rings whose amount of mass is about 40 percent of one of Saturn’s moon Mimas. Mimas itself is 2,000 times smaller than the Earth’s own moon, meaning there is relatively little material in Saturn’s rings.
