Spain: Barca boss dismisses VAR controversy in Leganes win

Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde saw no issues with Luis Suarez's goal, despite controversy, in the Catalan side's 3-1 victory over Leganes at the Nou Camp on Sunday.

The Uruguayan striker appeared to foul the goalkeeper when following up Lionel Messi's free-kick.

Ivan Cuellar was furious when the decision was upheld by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

"I thought it was a clear goal," he told reporters at a post-match press conference.

"Everybody's protesting, but for me it was a goal. He doesn't touch the goalkeeper, so it was right that it was given."

"You have to accept that errors will happen and that will not end with VAR or a even robot referee."

Osumane Dembele gave the champions a first-half lead before Martin Braithwaite tapped in the equaliser. Luis Suarez put Barca back in front and super-sub Messi added a third in stoppage time.

Barcelona restored their five-point lead at the top of La Liga, ahead of second-placed Atletico Madrid and third-placed Real Madrid.
