President Moon Jae-in named a couple of his former top secretaries as special diplomatic advisors.
Cheongwadae announced this afternoon that Im Jong-seok, the president's former chief of staff, as special advisor for the United Arab Emirates.
He established a special relationship with Abu Dhabi's Crown Prince when visiting the UAE as Moon's special envoy in late 2017.
The top office expressed confidence Im will continue to reinforce that bilateral relationship.
The former top secretary for political affairs, Han Byeong-do, was appointed as the President's new special adviser on Iraq.
The Cheongwadae spokesperson said Han has been chairman of a South Korea-Iraq Friendship Foundation since 2009 and is an expert on Iraqi culture.
