Sen. Martha McSally visited the Border Patrol agents at the U.S. - Mexico border on Tuesday in Nogales.

According to officials with Sen. McSally's office, the visit was meant for the Senator to visit CBP agents who are working without pay during the ongoing government shutdown.

"There is about 150 or so CBP officers that are on duty right now, and I just wanted to thank them for continuing to work, especially during the partial government shutdown, that they're continuing to work, and continuing to make sure that cross-border commerce happens, and that our security happens," said Sen. McSally.

Meanwhile, Senate leaders have reached an agreement to vote on two competing proposals to end the government shutdown, including President Donald Trump's plan to have Congress pay for the long-stalled wall along the U.S.-Mexico border that's likely to fail.

The other measure, from Democrats, also seems unlikely to pass. It would temporarily reopen the government through Feb. 8 while talks on border security continue.
