The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall received a rapturous welcome to Liverpool this week.

As well as officially confirming royal status on the "Royal Albert dock", Charles and Camilla visited Liverpool University as they met Ireland's President Michael D Higgins during a day celebrating the culture, history and people of Liverpool.

Other stops on a packed royal visit included the chance to meet the daughter of former South African president Nelson Mandela.

A patron of Marie Curie, Prince Charles visited the charity's Liverpool hospice to mark its 60th anniversary on Tuesday.

And the Duchess of Cornwall got the chance to pose in front of the city's famous Liver Bird wings.

Granada Reports correspondent Andy Bonner was there.
