The UN says Yemen’s Ansarullah movement and the former government have reached an agreement to start redeploying their forces from Hudaydah.

The United Nations said in a statement the parties will implement the Phase One of the redeployment of forces under a UN-sponsored deal. The statement, however, did not give more details about what the parties had agreed to and what the next phases would be. Representatives from the Yemeni parties agreed to cease fighting in Hudaydah during peace talks in Sweden last December. Under the truce deal, the rival parties also agreed to the withdrawal of their troops and the deployment of UN monitors to the port city. Yemen is going through the worst humanitarian crisis since Saudi Arabia and some of its regional allies launched a war on the country in 2015.
