California Lawmaker Proposes Speed Limit-Free Lanes On Busiest Highways

A California lawmaker has proposed building new lanes on I-5 and state highway 99 with no speed limit. The bill was submitted on Friday by Senator John Moorlach of Orange County. Moorlach says the speed limit-free lanes would reduce pollution because "traffic congestion increases the emissions of greenhouse gases." The proposal has been compared to Germany's Autobahn highway. The Autobahn is perhaps the most well-known example of highway stretches with no speed limits.
