Sydney's Maori community performed a haka for victims of the Christchurch mosque shootings on Sunday.

The group performed two ceremonial dances popularised by the New Zealand rugby team the All Blacks, namely Ka Mate and Kapa o Pango.

Event organiser Josh Simon, a New Zealand-born Sydney resident himself, said "a haka is our way of showing grief and love."

"A haka was used in war but then again it can also be used as our way of showing love and respect to those whose lives we lost back in Christchurch," he added.

Schoolchildren in Christchurch performed several hakas in the wake of the Christchurch mosque shootings.

A total of 50 people were killed in what was New Zealand's worst ever attack.
