Two-time 800m Olympic champion Caster Semenya participated in her first event since the controversial ruling requiring her to take testosterone-reducing medication was suspended. She edged out Ethiopian runner Hawi Feysa in the 2000m race with a time of 5:38.19 seconds. The US women’s national team thrashed Thailand 13-0 in their World Cup opener, with captain Alex Morgan scoring five goals. It was a record breaking performance for most goals scored in a single match and largest margin of victory at a men’s or women’s World Cup. RT America’s Steve Christakos reports.
