One of the most popular over-the-counter painkillers, acetaminophen (the active ingredient in Tylenol), could kill you. It is considered to be safe when taken at recommended doses, but taking even two extra pills a day could put your liver and your life at risk, according to a new, in-depth ProPublica report. Acetaminophen overdose now sends over 78,000 people to the emergency room each year, and the drug is now considered the leading cause of acute liver failure in the country.
