The son of a Hamilton County prosecutor was a victim of an attack that took place at the Taste of Cincinnati last weekend.

Reports say 23-year-old Jonathan Deters, the son of Prosecutor Joe Deters, was attacked Sunday night (June 1). Deters and Allison Crable, 23, were on 9th street around midnight when they were approached by five to six suspects, according to police. The suspects reportedly hit and knocked them to the ground and punched Crable in the face. The two were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

In a separate incident that same night, two men were assaulted at 1100 Walnut Street. Scottie Hunter, 44, and Randy Ulses, 48, told police suspects stole a wallet, money and credit cards from Hunter and then kicked him in the face. Authorities said they are investigating it as a hate crime.

Of the more than 550,000 people who attended the three-day Taste of Cincinnati, 18 arrests were made on site, according to the Regional Chamber.

The Chamber maintains that "any characterization that Taste of Cincinnati is anything but a safe environment is not based on facts," stating that the 18 arrests made at the event "represent .003% of those who attended this year's Taste."
