FM Yun holds phone talks with Kerry amid historical row with Japan

South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se has spoken with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry in regards to renewed diplomatic tensions between Seoul and Tokyo over Japan's wartime sexual slavery.
During the 15-minute phone talks on Wednesday, Kerry told Minister Yun that Korea has so far sincerely carried out the 2015 bilateral deal to resolve the issue.
Minister Yun responded by relaying Acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn's intent of settling the issue in a restrained manner,... adding that it's important to respect the spirit of the agreement.
Fresh tensions resurfaced after a local civic group re-installed a statue in front of Japan's consulate in Busan late last month,... which symbolizes the women and girls victimized by Japanese troops during World War Two.
