McDonald's workers in Cambridge and Crawford went on strike this week, demanding a genuine living wage, trade union representation and job security.

Their predicament is not unusual in the UK today: global corporate giants, turning a huge profit, are allowed to get away with zero hours contracts, bogus self-employment and other practices that, in my view, are exploitative.

We have to show solidarity with staff at McDonald's and others in similar situations because a win for them is a win for all of us.
