How the Military Helped Stranded Victims Escape From Tropical Island After Irma

Hundreds of Americans sat shoulder to shoulder inside a military cargo plane as they became refugees from the Caribbean island of St. Martin after Hurricane Irma. They were flown by the National Guard after enduring the wrath of the storm last week. Many left behind frightened and forlorn pets, some tethered to trees or porches. Dozens of pets were rescued and taken to a special facility. They are now being given proper care and will hopefully find new homes.
