Gov. Christie: Students Will Be Better Trained With This Investment & NJ Will Be A Much Better Place

Governor Christie: People ask you, at this stage, all the time about legacy. What do you want your legacy to be? I don’t think we define our legacy, others define it for us. All we can do is every day try to do the very best we can, have a forward-looking vision for our state that goes beyond the eight years that I’ve gotten the opportunity to serve, and hope that with the partnership of other good leaders across the state that the things you’ve invested in today will yield great results tomorrow. We won’t know for years whether this was the right decision or the wrong one, but I am confident that because of the leadership here at NJIT that it will be judged to being the right decision and because of the great young people that you will help to train and educate in these buildings that New Jersey will be a much better place in the years to come because of the investment that we’ve made here. So to the entire NJIT community I’m here this morning because I’m proud of you, because what you’re doing is every day creating a better educated New Jersey, which will make us more prosperous and a happier state. In the end, what you want to do as Governor is try to create circumstances which allow the very best of the people that you serve to come out. When we create great modern institutions of learning, we create an opportunity for the greatness that God has placed in each and every one of our citizens to have the chance to come out. That’s what I’m confident this building will do. I’m hopeful that it will do it for as many students as we can possibly accommodate, and I look forward to seeing these investments pay fruit in the future.
