Depression and insomnia are common symptoms for menopausal women. A new study published for the North American Menopause Society found that talk therapy could help alleviate these symptoms though. For the study a clinical psychologist and her team used cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to target insomnia and hot flashes for a small group of menopausal women. Researchers found that the techniques used caused improvements in sleep and depression. Dr. JoAnn Pinkerton, executive director of NAMS, said, "The results of this study will hopefully lead to additional research to provide symptomatic menopausal women with more options than what were previously available."
