According to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Monday, President Donald Trump has determined that the twenty percent corporate tax rate is a non-negotiable part of the GOP's tax bill. Mnuchin said at The Wall Street Journal CEO Council, "It’s not going up. I can tell you this is one of the things the president feels very strongly about." A proposed increase in the corporate rate would open the doow for a more generous child tax credit or a more modest change to the state and local tax deduction. Isaac Boltansky, an analyst at the research firm Compass Point, said that a more modest cut for the corporate rate could also help the bill meet procedural rules in the Senate.
