Recently, Manuka honey has been touted as a "superfood" that can treat many ailments including colds, flus, sore throats, allergies and other types of wounds. It's also being praised for its abilities to lower cholesterol, improve sleep and reduce hair loss. Throughout history, honey has been used therapeutically, but it fell out of favor in the mid-20th century with the introduction of antibiotics.
