According to a report by NBC News, witnesses say that Syrian government troops have launched a ground offensive in eastern Ghouta, clashing with rebel forces just hours after the UN Security Council unanimously passed a resolution demanding a 30-day ceasefire across Syria. Witnesses claimed that within minutes of the resolution being passed, warplanes targeted residential neighborhoods in the regions. Syrian civil defense workers said on Sunday that they had witnessed "renewed aerial and artillery bombardment of most of the cities and towns of East Ghouta."
