Oklahoma Becomes The First State To Use Nitrogen Gas For Executions

Опубликовано 16 марта 2018, 18:25
According to a report by Gizmodo, due to a legal injection drug shortage, Oklahoma announced earlier this week that it will start using nitrogen gas for all of its executions moving forward, becoming the first US state to do so. However, critics have reportedly expressed concerns that the method remains unproven as an ethical means of execution, and that Oklahoma has yet to develop a protocol for its use. The death-drug shortage has reportedly lead some states to bring back older execution methods. Alabama, Tennessee, and Virginia, legislators have all proposed the re-introduction of the electric chair, while in Utah, the state government has brought back the firing squad.
