Cape Town has a new Bike Mayor

Learners at Thembihle High school in Khayelitsha, were treated to their first ever bike ride at the launch of the Bicycle Mayor program at their school today.

The initiative, a pilot program in partnership with Pedal power and the Dutch Consul General is Aimed at accelerating cycling awareness in the township. Bicycle Mayor of Cape Town Lebogang Mokwena, will be teaching girls to how to ride a more affordable form of
transport.

Consul General Bonnie Horbach believes learning to ride a bike will create new opportunities for the Thembelihle high pupils. These eager learners say they can’t wait to hop on a bicycle and get their wheels Rolling.
