Cuba: Cuban President Diaz-Canel receives Maduro in first act as president

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel received his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro at the Revolution Palace in Havana on Saturday, in his first public event after being elected as head of state.

SOT, Nicolas Madura, President of Venezuela (Spanish): "We come to renew hope, to renew dreams. We must aim for the future especially, visualise ten years ahead and think what else can be done, what else is necessary for our people. When I say "our people" I mean the Cuban people, the Venezuelan people, but I speak about our America, Latin America, the Caribbean. What else needs to be done to create deep, indestructible foundations of the political, spiritual, moral union and, above all, the economic union, which is the one that can liberate us."
