Sports website Deadspin reported on Saturday that Germany was close to seeing their chances of making out of the group stage in the 2018 World Cup dwindle to almost nothing. Being tied against Sweden 1-1, and down to ten men with only seconds remaining in regulation, Germany needed a miracle to happen. Germany was going into the second half down one goal against Sweden. Marco Reus tied the match up early on in the second half, but Germany still needed a winner to give themselves better odds. Toni Kroos saved the day when a free kick at the edge of the box, went in on the last minute of stoppage time.
