Turkish Lira Falls Against US Dollar

According to Reuters, the Turkish lira is dropping after US President Donald Trump announced new tariffs on imports from Turkey.
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has been imploring citizens to exchange gold and US dollars for lira, after the country's currency fell more than 18-percent against the US dollar.
Over the year, the lira has dropped more than 40-percent.
Globally, investors have also been turning towards the US dollar and the Japanese yen as safe-haven assets.
The yen recently hit a one-month high of 113.38 against the dollar.
But the US dollar index, which compares the dollar to six other currencies, is up seven-tenths of a percent at 96.17, it's highest level since July 2017.
