U.S. Redirects Funds From Syria But Emphasizes Not Withdrawing From Conflict

According to a report by Reuters, the United States State Department said on Friday that it will redirect 230 million-dollars from Syria, emphasizing that the move did not signal a retreat from the conflict by Washington. The department reportedly said that it had raised 300 million-dollars from coalition partners for recovery efforts in areas reclaimed from Islamic State militants and that the US funds would be used to support other foreign policy priorities. The funds were reportedly frozen in March by President Donald Trump as part of his administration's reassessment of Washington's role in the long-running Syrian conflict.
