It comes as a huge relief for hundreds of thousands of Muslim-majority Rohingya who fled Myanmar as Bangladesh has announced that they will not be forcibly repatriated.
Bangladesh was scheduled to send back an initial group of 2,260 Rohingya from 485 families on Thursday, in line with a bilateral agreement between the two governments in October.
Many refugees had refused to return, fearing for their safety. The United Nations had urged Bangladesh not to send people back under the current circumstances.
