The Cupra Born is said to be the first-ever hot hatch with an electric motor. It might be based on the Volkswagen ID.3, but it gets its own unique personality, thanks to a more sporting body and copper accents. Three versions are offered, including an e-Boost model with an extra 30bhp – slashing the 0-62mph dash to just 6.6 seconds. When fitted with the 58kWh battery, the Cupra Born can manage up to 260 miles between charges, but a 77kWh battery extends this to 340 miles. It’s a practical family car too; four adults can get comfy and there’s a decent 385-litre boot. Should the Born be your first electric car? Sara puts it to the test.
