According to Business Insider, Democrats have reportedly rejected President Donald Trump's latest proposal to re-open the government even before the proposal was officially announced. President Trump first decided to shut down the government in an attempt to pressure Congress to approve the budget for a $5.7 billion border wall. Trump is expected to offer Democrats temporary protection for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA recipients, also known as Dreamers. He is also expected to extend the legal status of immigrants with "Temporary Protected Status" in an address at 4 pm. Democratic aides told Axios that party leaders were not consulted over the offer and "have rejected similar overtures previously."
