On Monday, President Trump along with Vice President Mike Pence visited the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington DC unannounced. The visit was a short one, allowing enough time for the pair to place a wreath at the foot of the statue. Trump kept the conversations short during the visit as well, making sure not to respond to any questions regarding the government shutdown. Business Insider reports Trump made a brief statement to the reporters at the memorial saying, "It's a great day. A beautiful day. Thank you for being here. Appreciate it."
