King Cobra Conservation Workshop held at Indira Gandhi Zoological Park in Visakhapatnam on June 22. The workshop jointly organised by Andhra Pradesh Forest Department and Eastern Ghats Wildlife Society for field officers and amateur snake rescuers. These rare and ecologically valuable species are killed by rural communities only due to perceptive fear and lack of awareness. Likewise, thousands of people die each year from venomous snake bites in rural parts of the country. The aim of the workshop is to find solutions to the problem and devise a king cobra conservation strategy. This can be done by actively engaging the forest staff and local snake rescuers in high conflict zones.
