US President Donald Trump said Iran was "nothing but trouble" while speaking to reporters at the White House on Friday, after UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt confirmed that Iran had captured one UK and one Liberian-flagged vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.

"We don't have very many tankers going in but we have a lot of ships there that are warships and we'll talk to the UK," Trump said. "We have no written agreement but we have an agreement," Trump added. "This only goes to show what I'm saying about Iran - trouble, nothing but trouble."

"Iran is in big trouble right now," Trump continued. "A lot of bad things are happening to them. And it's very easy to straighten out or it's very easy for us to make it a lot worse."

Trump also said he would not be watching Special Counsel Robert Mueller's testimony next week.

"As far as I'm concerned, they already took their impeachment vote and the impeachment vote was so lopsided, it was a mess, it was a massive victory," Trump said.

The British-flagged Stena Impero and the British-operated, Liberian-flagged Mesdar were confirmed to have been seized by Iran's Revolutionary Guards by UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt on Friday.
