Daniel McAdams joins Scottie Nell Hughes to discuss the ongoing pro-Democracy protests in Hong Kong. He characterizes the protesters’ real goal as “regime change” and that they intend to “internationalize the problem” by inviting US meddling. He also points out that Washington-based institutions like the National Endowment for Democracy played a role in fomenting unrest in Hong Kong. Shortly after air, we received an official statement from a White House official stating: “Freedoms of expression and assembly are core values that we share with the people of Hong Kong and these freedoms should be protected. The United States firmly rejects the notion that we are sponsoring or inciting demonstrations.”
