Trump Asylum Lockdown Takes Effect

SCOTUS restored a Trump administration policy banning most asylum applications at the U.S.-Mexico border.
The policy stipulates that migrants crossing another country en route to the U.S. must apply for asylum in that country.
It will likely exacerbate asylum demand in Mexico, said Andres Ramirez, head of the Mexican refugee agency, COMAR.
Currently, according to Reuters, COMAR has over 80,000 applicants waiting to make asylum requests in Mexico.
