The world’s best surfers are back in the United States to participate in the latest WSL Freshwater Pro event at the Surf Ranch. Surfing legend Kelly Slater had a good showing on day one, placing fifth with two of his American counterparts also in the top five. Brazilian Gabriel Medina took the top spot with a score of 17.77. At the Pan-Pacific Open, it was an unfortunate ending for number five seed Madison Keys as she was forced to retire in the third set due to injury. German start Angelique Kerber advanced to the semifinals. RT America’s Steve Christakos reports.
