President Donald Trump said his tactic of “tough love” was the reason Turkey agreed to a 120-hour cease-fire in Syria. Trump told reporters before an event in Keene, Texas, that he would lift sanctions as soon as the deal is implemented. “We’ve gotten everything we could have ever dreamed of,” Trump said. The announcement of the agreement was made during Vice President Mike Pence's visit to Turkey and is contingent on the Kurds moving from northern Syria where they had been fighting ISIS with U.S. troops. Turkey has long wanted the Syrian Kurds out of northern Syria. Kurdish forces were not party to the agreement forged Oct. 17, so it is unclear whether they would even comply with the terms.
