Hundreds of protesters demonstrated against President Rodrigo Duterte in the Philippines' capital, Manila on Tuesday as the world marked the International Human Rights Day. They burnt an effigy of Duterte whom they blame for the country's low record.

"The current human rights situation is worse than a crisis or catastrophe. In fact, we are on a brink of social convulsion," said Cristina Palabay, Secretary General of Karapatan (the Alliance for the Advancement of People's Rights-Philippines).

Human Rights groups say Duterte's war on drugs killed more than 12,000 peoples since he took office. Activists called for the liberation of political prisoners and fresh peace talks between government and rebel groups.
