► There are more than a million people in the UK who live with a significant disfigurement, and more than a quarter of them say they have been the victim of a hate crime.

That means they have been physically attacked, harassed in the street or abused online - singled out, simply because of the way they look.

For some, it has happened once, for others it is a daily occurrence, but the emotional impact can last a lifetime.
