Transport Secretary Grant Shapps on cops policing the COVID-19 lockdown said: "They perhaps went a bit further than they should've gone." But they have been asked to do a difficult job, something 'unprecedented'.

Cops were warned a WEEK ago not to be heavy-handed during the coronavirus lockdown - but were still accused of being "overzealous".

Police were this week pictured patrolling supermarket car parks - reportedly even telling shopkeepers not to sell Easter eggs to ensure the public follow socially distancing guidelines.
