UN holds first open debate discussing impact of COVID-19

The United Nations held its first open debate on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on global peace and security via video link on Thursday. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said during the conference that the consequences brought by the pandemic can be felt in countries traditionally seen as "stable," but stressed that its impact "is particularly apparent in countries already experiencing conflict or emerging from it."
