Students have been warned not to have any house partiesby national clinical director Jason Leitch.

Speaking at the daily Scottish Government coronavirus briefing Professor Leitch said: “We need you not to have house parties. I could not be any clearer.

“By all means socialise in licensed hospitality venues, where a maximum of six people from two households can meet, but no meeting up in other people’s homes or in your shared student accommodation."

He then asked those at university to follow the Facts guidance, download the Protect Scotland app, ensure they self-isolate if asked and not host or go to house parties.

The national clinical adviser said he spoke to Scotland's student leaders on Tuesday to inform them of how they can support students
