The US House of Representatives has delivered an article of impeachment to the Senate, accusing Donald Trump of inciting insurrection in a fiery speech to his followers before the deadly attack on the Capitol. House Democrats, who will serve as prosecutors, proceeded through the Capitol, taking the article of impeachment to the Senate. Senate leaders have agreed not to start the trial until 9 February, which gives Trump more time to prepare a defence. No other president in US history has faced trial after leaving office, nor has a president ever faced impeachment twice
