Russia: Locals mourn slain opposition politician Nemtsov in St Petersburg

Around a hundred people laid flowers in remembrance of opposition politician Boris Nemtsov, on the sixth anniversary of his murder, in St Petersburg on Saturday.

Locals headed to the Solovetsky Stone – a monument honouring victims of political repression in the Soviet Union - to pay tribute.

Former Russian Deputy-Prime Minister Boris Nemtsov, 55, was shot down while walking along the Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge next to the Kremlin on February 27 2015.

Former deputy prime minister and opposition politician Boris Nemtsov was gunned down by four shots on February 27, 2015. The five men found guilty of the politician's murder were sentenced to jail terms ranging from 11 to 20 years.

Last December, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that those who ordered Nemtsov's murder had been found, but this case "needs to be finalised."
