Professor Anthony Harnden, deputy chair of the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) explains why he made the decision to restrict the OxfordAZ vaccine to those with no underlying health issues and under 30. This is because the threat of a blood clot is similar to the threat of someone under 30 who is well contracting severe covid. Anthony Hamden encourages those outside of that category to continue getting the vaccine as the threat of covid outweighs the threat of a blood clot and side effects from medicine are very common.
