Northern Ireland: Police condemn 'disgraceful' violence during Belfast riots

The Police Service of Northern Ireland have condemned protesters after a night of violence saw a petrol bomb hurled onto a bus.

Assistant Chief Constable Jonathan Roberts of the Police Service of Northern Ireland said the scenes of violence were "absolutely disgraceful" and should be condemned "in the strongest possible terms".

He said a total of 55 police officers have been injured over several nights of disorder.

"It is very, very lucky that nobody was seriously injured or killed last night", he said.
