Acting Mayor Kim Janey On The Boston Police Department's Many Troubles, Covid, And Campaigning

In the two months since Boston Acting Mayor Kim Janey has taken the helm of the city, she has had to content with an investigation into Boston Police Commissioner Dennis white, who was put on leave two days into the job due to an old domestic violence allegation, and another investigation into the police department’s handling of past child molestation allegations against former police union president Patrick Rose.

During this time, she has steered the city’s post-COVID reopening — which has garnered criticisms from some for lagging three weeks behind the state’s — and launched her campaign for mayor in the citywide election coming up this fall. She joined Jim Braude to discuss.
