Russia stages war games to 'destroy enemy' after Royal Navy enters Black Sea

RUSSIA has staged a military exercise to 'destroy enemy vessels' with 'supersonic missiles' after a Royal Navy warship enters the Black Sea.

The 'kill an enemysubmarine’ was intended to show off the Russian military's muscles in front of the HMS Trent as it arrives to support Ukraine amid tensions with Moscow.

Making no effort to be discrete, in a separate military drill, two Russian Tu-160 nuclear missile-carrying bombers escorted by MiG-31 fighters performed an explosive seven hour battle over the Barents Sea.

The macho display was directly linked to the arrival of the British patrol vessel, according to reports in Russia.

Another planned exercise will involve the mock sinking of an 'enemy' warship.

The Russian warships armed with Kalibr missiles “practiced hunting for and destroying a simulated enemy's submarine at sea”, said a statement from the fleet.

With the Trent patrol vessel sailing across the Black Sea and docking in Ukrainian naval port Odessa, the next stage of the Russian naval exercise involves the mock sinking of an enemy warship.
