After a video of a group of six people thrashing an elderly Muslim man surfaced online, the Ghaziabad Police is now probing the role of social media platforms and users in connection with the case. In the viral video, the assailants can also be seen chopping off the victim's beard. The incident in question took place on June 5 in Loni in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad.

According to sources, the police were investigating to determine whether the video was circulated with the intention of promoting communal disharmony. Twitter India has been booked after fake claims.
