The past week has brought many new revelations about how badly Donald Trump abused his power while serving as President. The latest news about how he pressured the Department of Justice to investigate his bogus claims of voter fraud is appalling, but the time for shock and outrage is over, and now is the time for action. Congress must act on this new information or else it all means nothing, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

In just the last week, we have seen multiple instances, new reporting, new documents coming to light, showing that Donald Trump routinely and systemically abused his power while he was the president of the United States. Most recent information, obviously after of course, last week's revelations that he was spying on his political enemies. Yesterday, we learned that he was in fact lobbying the justice department to investigate his bogus claims of voter fraud. And in fact, he sent a letter, an email to two members of the DOJ asking them to investigate this. And then 40 minutes later announced on Twitter that those two individuals were getting promotions. Kind of seems like a little bit of a, you know, possible quid pro quo. Maybe a little bit of pay to play or just good old fashioned bribery. Depends on how you want to categorize that.

But in my opinion, I don't think there's really any other way to slice it there. Hey, I need you to do me a favor, by the way, you're getting a promotion. Now about that favor. Something, something doesn't really smell right about that, does it? But anyway, we all know the story by now. We know the stories from last week. Think about how much has been revealed about this man's behavior as president of the United States in just the last and it hadn't, hadn't even been seven days, I think. But in the last seven days, how much has been revealed? Enough that it, if it were literally any other president, former president, their career would be over. Their support would be ended. They would be dragged on national news every single day.

But, but, but these scandals, it's just, it's just kind of a nothing. Like, meh. Okay. Yeah. It was what we figured, it's Donald Trump. This is infuriating and all we've gotten from Congress is Pelosi saying, well, we're gonna, we're going to have to sit them down and, and, and have them testify. Cool. That does nothing, by the way. I know people want to think, um, that a congressional testimony, you know, congressional hearings yield something. But, most of the time, nah. Even in, in, you know, potentially criminal instances like this, like no, nothing. Maybe you get the truth. But we know all these people are liars anyway, you're not going to get accurate, good information from these individuals even if you sit them in Congress, even with the threat of perjury. They don't care.

This has to be an investigation from the US department of justice itself. The individual involved in this scandal, this newest scandal, is resigning. But that shows you this person knows what happened was wrong. Don't let them just walk away. Don't let them just pack up their desk and say, okay, see you later, guys, investigate them. Go through their files, go through their phone calls, go through their records, find out what the hell was happening, who the hell authorized what and how deep the abuses of power from Donald Trump run. The public deserves those answers. And we're not going to be content until we get them, because if we don't get them, by the way, if we do not have meaningful investigations that result in prosecutions, then all of these stories mean nothing. If there's no resolution, none of it means anything.
